I would say he is just stressed. Is he in a high traffic area ie; loungeroom? My beardie has never once used the hides provided, prefers to be out in the open even when sleeping but he's in a closed off bedroom so he's not too disturbed. All I can say is that the beardie could be feeling stressed in his big new home with lots of even bigger creatures leering at him all the time. JMO
