They are an excellent small snake for beginners. I personally like the stimsoni best in the children's family.

A good book for a beginner is "Keeping Children's Pythons" It covers feeding, enclosures, heating, lighting and other keeping information.

These two books will give you the majority of information you require for many years to come. I actually read Weigel's book 15 odd years ago. 1st ed, whenever that was (book's at home)
