G'day Camo
Depending on what species it is, determines whether i use heat mat, or heat emitter.
I always use a basking globe and this is not conected to a thermostat it just runs on a timer the same as the fluoro.
For species that i want higher humidities, i use a heat mat, and i either run this on a timer or on a thermostat. generally they are on timers as the heat mats are only low wattage.
If i use a heat emitter though for lower humidity, i use a thermostat with those, just a pulse thermo.
It is ultimately up to the individual.
Species though will determine the best way to go.
Cheers
