BHP behaviour.

I am still new to keeping BHPs, I have only had mine since may of last year. When I feed my snakes they all grab and constrict their prey (dead of course). My BHP however, will bite many times like an elapid would and then retreat for a few mins, then come out and grab the rat to eat it. Has anyone else seen this type of behavour???

Craig.
