My male hisses loudly and occasionally strikes with his mouth closed, never rears up and flettens his neck. My female has never struck. i treat them very gently though, It is a challenge that i take seriously and teach ny kids to go slowly and try to pick our snakes up with out an attempted strike. It takes a bit of time but doesnt stress the snake. But yaeh they both bite their food repeatadly from head to toe before swallowing
