mites

I am new at keeping snakes as pets, and just read the thread on mite spray. What i am wondering and hoping to get some info on ,is,

1. how often should you spray for mites.
2. I occasionly give them a run on the grass for about ten minutes every 3 or so days, or especially if it looks like they gonna crap (saves cleaning Up, and gives them some UV), will they pick up mites here?

This subject has been on my mind and that last thread prompted me to ask
