The questions asks "can" they be aggressive? CAN being the key word.I've had to rely on that aggression or defense to lure them out of some pretty tricky positions before, in order to catch and release. But having said that...once out and perceiving no more threat they return to their normal, alert snake behaviour. So generally they're not aggressive but can be if in need of defense. That's my opinion anyway.
