I can't see there being a HUGE problem with the pebbles unless they manage to stick to the food item being swallowed, which is probably not hugely likely but could be remedied by feeding in a seperate enclosure - one problem I see with gravel is that when your snake passes that meal it is likely to go straight through the gravel as it isn't absorbant...

Very nice Olive and these photos of a youngster are helping me convince my missus...keep them coming
