Gravel looks nice but unless it's cleaned out and washed fairly regulary can cause problems as the most of the cacky stuff will just got through it and sit. Out of everything I have tried including the gravel the good old news paper, even though not as attractive by any means is the most healthiest for the snakes and easiest to keep clean.
