I think an intestinal blockage may be possible from rat fur but you would probably have to seriously overfeed your snake and not offer the correct temperatures for basking. Unfortunately for some vets all it takes is one case for them to condemn a certain practice.

I've never heard of it and if it was as prevalent as the vet is making out, we all would have heard about it numerous times.
