Rescued MD Update

Hi all, just thought I'd give an update on the old fella/girl. It has been having Baytril Injections for the last 2 weeks, just incase it has to have an op to remove the impacted fecal stones. We've been treating its eyes with Trycin Eye and Ear Ointment as its eyes were a tad crook. Everyday I've been giving it a tepid bath and gentle massage to try and move the stones. Last week and today it has been tubed with more Electrolytes(for rehydration) and Paraffin Oil. Paraffin Oil might be starting to work as when Snakey was at the vet today, firmer massage was used and two more stones passed out. They are a tad softer than the ones that passed out when it was under the gas two weeks ago. They look like white chalky sort of stuff with a tad of green in it. The vet says that there only seems to be one stone left in there. Anyway, when the vet finished Snakey got quite snakey and was ready to strike. Must have really hurt to pass the stones poor thing! Vet is going to reconsult with the Adelaide Zoo vet, and see if we just continue on with the treatment we are already using. Looks like that no surgical intervention will be needed eh? Cheers Cheryl
