Activities for Pythons

Since joining this site, I have seen noticed that allow their snakes out for free time. I have been overcautious I believe and my 3 1/2 year old water python has only ever been allowed with me or into the bathtub. I am interested in what kind of activities people do with their snakes, including the pitfalls and mistakes I do not want to make. She is about 3.5 feet long.
