Thermostat Help

Hey there.

I just wanted to know how other people set up their thermostats and heat cords. I have been told different things by different people and wanted to see what the majority thought. At the moment I have the probe sitting on the newspaper on the bottom of the enclosure and the Ministat 100 (set at 30 degrees) is switching on at approx 28 degrees and switching off at approx 32 degrees ( I was told that Microclimates are accurate to +/- .5 of a degree).
I was told by a man in a pet shop to have the thermostat probe outside of the enclosure touching or just beside the heat cord. A few other people on the other hand have told me to place the probe inside the enclosure and I just wanted to get some more opinions on the most accurate way to set it up ( do I sit the probe hard against the floor to measure floor temp or is it best to have the probe off the floor to measure the air temperature).
