I find after a feed my snakes usually retreat to somewhere out of site until they digest their food. I think they probably feel vulnerable with a belly full of food so they wait until it's digested before they start basking or roaming around. If they were in the wild it would slow them down and make it harder to get away from danger, etc., as quickly.
