Hi everyone,
My parents are visiting at the moment. For the weeks leading up to their visit, i've been through the whole 'cant you put it in the garage' thing - you know how it goes. I told my mum that Jasper my Jungle Python prefers nice warm beds - like hers.
Once they saw him, they were fine - they both had a hold and he played nicely. He's only 7 months old, but he's made me bleed a few times, so I was a little worried that I would have to explain two heart attacks to the rest of my family...
I held off feeding him for 2 days so that my parents could see him eat dinner; unfortunately he was way up the top of his enclosure and not in a great viewing point. This is where things got messy/funny. I picked Jasper up with my left hand and moved him down toward my right hand, which was holding a hopper in a pair of tongs. Before I could put Jasper down, he struck at the mouse and coiled around it - and my finger on my left hand!!!
For the next 15 minutes, I had to support my left hand - python and all - with my right hand while he ate. My parents were excited. My finger was slowly turning purple. I tried to wiggle my finger free, but he thought it was his dinner trying to get free - he coiled even tighter!!!
I know that if I dont have any pics then it didn't happen... but it did. I didn't wanna go running through the house with a feeding python attached to me, hunting for my camera.
But here are some pics of Jaspers previous feed, hanging from a vine. In the second pic he's uncoiled himself, and is moving the hopper around to get a better grip. The third pic is him drinking out of the bowl I put in his enclosure to raise the humidity... he has a couple of other bowls that are more full!!!
