untreated mites on a hatchy can be fatal.

you will see white specks on the skin, around the eyes, and the snake may soak in the waterbowl, seem listless, off food and the waterbowl will have dead mites on the bottom appearing like pepper as said before

to treat
take your waterbowl out and give the cage a 3 second burst of top of descent aircraft insecticide with your snake/s in there. let it sneak into all the nooks and crannies for 20 mins then take snake out and discard the substrate and clean and disinfect logs and clean the waterbowl . give the inside of the cage a good scrub especially the roof. refit your cage and put snake back . repeat the spray treatment in 5 days in case you missed some eggs.

a good spray in your herp room each month is a proactive approach to insect control. you will be surprised how it knocks the cockies too
