my snake is the same, is fine once out, except i have to take him out with a hook. and if he happens to move off my hands, i go to pick him up again, he gets tense and sometimes in strike position and has a go at me. ive only had him out 4 times though lol this years hatchy hopefully he'll calm down enough for me to get him with my hands! im working on it. letting him bite me, not flinching and continuing what im doing will coherse him to settle down. its working already! today i had him out and i could switch him from hand to hand, and i let him off me and picked him up again etc. my opinion is if you keep trying for something, and repeating it over and over, the snake should improve in behaviour. but as others have said, all snakes are different! especially some jungles. hope that helps,
regards,

Nat
