Those things are SO quick.

I see them often down the road, usually dead but every 2-3 days a live one... Always the same scenario - 3/4 of the way crossing the road, I get close so it turns around and runs back.

Last night my Husky got out so I was chasing him for over an hour through paddocks, randomly I got scared I'd stand on a snake, point the torch down and there was an 8ft carpet slithering. My dog was running around the area so I stayed with the python and my brothers and their friends rounded the dog up. I didn't want to leave the python as my dog knew I was watching something and he'd destroy it.

ETA: Also a lot of red belly blacks.
