The pulsing thermostats should cut out completely, but I think temps have to be 5 degrees above the set temp.
It would have shot up a lot quicker on the hot day because the thermostat was plugged in and would have been adding heat even though ideally it shouldn't be and as it was even hotter outside, the incubator can't loose heat to compensate so there is only one way for the temps to go and that is up.
