Beardie Substrate??

I'm sure there has been alot of topics on this, and many people have many other opinions...
However i', asking the question, who uses what as a substrate for there beardies?

We currently have 3 beardies almost 11 months old in a 6ft x 2ft tank, we are using washed sand and find it ok, no probs, however lately the female (think??) keeps trying to dig in the sand, only to find the bottom of the tank.

Any ideas or pics of set up's would help greatly.

P.s. I know, sorry to have to drag you away from the Bathurst.
