I use newspaper and astroturf in my beardie enclosures.
Newspaper is cheap and easy to clean, although it doesn't look as nice as astroturf.
The astroturf looks great, but it's good to have a spare piece so that when one piece gets soiled and needs to be removed for cleaning, you've got a fresh piece ready to go. It's also a bit of a pain having to take the astroturf out almost daily, hosing it down and hanging it up to dry. At least with the newspaper you can just remove it and throw it away, then chuck some fresh stuff down
