It might also depend on the type of wire i have only ever used the square stuff about 12mm, but even so that sort of damage isnt going to happen over night. I also never kept anything in the avairy for more than 6 months or so, but plenty of ppl keep snakes in them without trouble.
Im sure there are plenty of other members here with heaps more experience keeping pythons in avairies that could also offer advice.
