The main reasons for it's rarity in the wild is not primarily the fact it is a recessive trait. Albino animals rarely survive in the wild as they lack the necessary camouflage and they stand out to predators much more readily. Technically speaking it is a deleterious trait for them to have so they rarely breed in the wild also.
