Oedura's are well known for their habits of tight squeezing between two solid objects. First, think of all the places that will allow him to squeeze and second, where it is dark so behind cupboards, photo frames, under large wardrobes etc.. beside that, walk around your house at midnight with a torch after it's lights out and you may see him.

Our thick tails escaped a couple of times. Found one each time under the mat beneath my sewing cabinet. One under the door of my son's room. One in my son's wardrobe.
Just check somewhere dark where they can get cover.

Just check somewhere dark where they can get cover. I can kinda understand an arboreal gecko escaping but how does a milii escape when they struggle to climb a rock?
Good luck finding your gecko
