Are all jungle carpets snappy and aggressive?

    Hey

I don't have any snakes atm. I really like the jungle carpet pythons. I have heard that they are pretty snappy? Is that the case with all, or most of them? Do any of you have any jungle carpets that are docile and fairly placid?

i have one that hasnt even had a strike at anyone yet, my 20 month old daughter even holds him no problem at all
I have a darwin that has tagged me about 10 times in a couple of weeks, just comes down to the individual snakes i think

IMO its just most of them, so if you are prepared to look around you should be able to find a docile one.
My jungle definately fits in with the majority

Do you think you can tell their personality when they are hatchlings? or does it come out later?

how much do they go for these days?

snakes are individuals. jungles have a bad reputation. I have a few here that bite and one that doesn't. think quick!!!

My female is nuts, will strike at anything that moves. She'll come out of her hide and out of her enclosure just to try and bite me. My male on the other hand wouldn't hurt a fly (but will eat a mouse ). He's very shy and just likes to be left alone, so although he doesn't bite, i still wouldn't handle him.

I have one that is pretty good and only have to worry around feeding time the other has lots of attitude and will take a chunk at any oppurtunity.

There not all bad but worse then most other breeds in general.

I don't think you can really tell their personality until you've had them for awhile.
After awhile you learn to read their individual behaviour, when they've had enough handling, when not to go near them, when they're hungry etc (although my coastal girl would lead you to beleive she is hungry all the time if it meant getting a feed everyday)
Goodluck in finding the right one!

I am planning on buying some jungles eventually when the funds are available. It is good to learn about them a little more i guess. Though i love the aggressive snakes the most.

My jungle python is like a puppy dog now. Was snappy when we first got him, but has settled down now and he is the best handler.

    I agree with Junglemad.

Ive noticed it with the five snakes here in our house.

I have three. Rome (female) and Isosceles(male) are utterly delightful. Always ready to come out and play. Never snapped - even when I removed Rome's eggs from her a couple of weeks ago!

3am (female) on the other hand is unpredictable, and prefers to be left alone. She has become worse since she lost the use of her tounge after a difficult operation to remove a lump from beneath her chin.
