    woma temps

just wondering what the general temps are for a woma python.

have a 4 bay enclosure running off one termostate and containing beardies, so curious if the beardie temps would be suitable for womas, as im hoping to get some soon.

also if you know, temps for rough scaled pythons, and ridge tailed monitors.

    cheers people.

24-25 cool End, 30-32 Hot end. You can let the warm end get a little hotter with woma, however, 30-32 will be fine.

thanks for the reply. generally i have 35-37 for the beardies, but if i put a spacer in the enclosure say half way (4x2x2 enclosure) to help the cool end out a bit more, do you think the python would be happy with the temps???.
    thanks again..

35-37 at the hottest end is ok as along as your cool end is staying at low enough temps. The snake will just thermoregulate itself then.

I personally never measure hot end temps, I prefer to have it hot enough for them that they don't sit in it all day and have to move to the cold end, and I like to keep the cold end for womas around 25...and no night heating
Herps.... an itch that just never goes....

would No night heating have any negative effects, on a Woma python? Also with us now coming into summer it might not be to bad, But what of winter?

hope you can answer thanks jason

At night they should just coil up in their hide to conserve as much heat as they can. If you let the temps drop too low in winter its ok but only if you dont want them to feed and grow. They will not be able to digest very well if they do accept a feed and it can have fatal consequences with the prey rotting in their gut. If you dont mind them not eating, pooping or growing it is fine provided that they can still get to a good temp during the day. If however you do want to feed them year roundthen provide them with "summer" conditions year round. Breeding requires the animal to have a winter "cooling" period to stimulate reproduction.
Personally i would just fork out the cash for a second Thermostat to have control over that species.
    Hope that helps

Normally have mine around 24-25 at the cool end, 32-35 at the warm end. Basking lamp comes on for the first few days after a feed in winter, and never had a problem. I should note I keep her on sand, and she has large slabs of rock that refuse to retain heat if she wants to be in a cooler spot. So I wouldn't run the same heat source off the other enclosure.

Otherwise, these animals are pretty much idiot proof.

If you want different temperatures in the woma enclosures to what you are running for your other species you should run a seperate thermostat to control the temps for those enclosures containing womas and other species requiring the same temps.
    Hope thats clear

Womas do fine at low temps in winter, keep their nights too warm over winter and they become non breeders.
