My male Diamond cross (he's 75%diamond, 25%jungle) is having a bit of a skin problem. He has some small patches of dry, shriveled scales on his back. This is the first such issue I have ever had with a snake and I don't know what it is.
It was just one small spot when I first got him, and I have been monitoring it, hoping it would heal up. Now there are a few new spots of it starting in other places and I am growing more concerned.
I can say with relative certainty that it is NOT a burn. He is maintained in a clean environment with adequate humidity, so I am not sure what could be causing the condition. Other than the dry spots he appears to be in good health............he eats vigorously and has shed normally three times scince he has been in my care.
I don't have any herp vets close to home, but am looking for one in my area.

One of my Port Mac Carpets had it not long ago. Not sure why, she was kept in a clean enclosure with dry substrate (newspaper). I thought it may have been a reaction from the Latex Gloves I started using at the time. I treated it with Iodine spray and Silvazine cream. The iodine was applied to the infected area and left to dry for 10 minutes, then Silvazine was applied .
