Oh sorry guys,

I haven’t actually applied this method with any of my enclosures yet, although I deal with a stack of this style of heating through work here for commercial and residential properties. I’m just wanting to scale it down

Daavid is right, it’s a heat term using the reticulation of heated water. I’m looking at setting myself up about 14 enclosures and felt it may be a viable proposition to heat them all hydronically instead of by electrical means. So basically I’d use the method as described by TrueBlue and run a low-voltage reticulation pump hooked onto a 50ltr hot water unit through a copper pipe circuit. Naturally I haven’t given it too much thought yet, but I’m sure it’s highly achievable and would work with pretty good results. Another good thing about it is, it doesn’t dry up the air.

After speaking to Roy Pails about his power bill for heating all his animals it got me thinking I offered him to give me a call should he ever decide to over-haul his current system. But I think the horse has bolted hehe

Theres much better ways to set up an enclosure without the horrible untrust worthy things.
Sledgehammer prey is about all they are good for, unless of course its for an incubator.
Does this mean you dont like thermostats Roby? pmsl.

Do we know what the leaking substance was yet? And if its toxic?

TB, do you find that heat in one section leaks into the other?

I'd be curious as to how you obtain reasonable temps without a thermostat. If I can avoid spending $100 extra every time we get a new reptile, we'd have more reptiles!

What kind of enclosure sizes, and heating do you use?

I use mainly bank type enclosures with a division and low watt,(15,25 and 40), blue bulbs, depending on cage size and time of year. Very little heat ventures to the cool side.
Theres a thread some where with a couple of pics of the way i set them up.
