Hey
How big do you womas get? I've heard everything from 1meter to 2 meters..
What cagesize do you use? Keep them separated except from breeding, right?
If you've got any pics of adults, preferably an overall photo of the snake and the entire cage, or while handling, to get a hang of their size.
Have a nice day!
Cheers

It depends on the locality, Western Ausralian (what I want to get) ones only get about 5 feet, the other ones get about 7-8 feet I think.

all depends on locality like rennie said, cage size 4ftx2ftx2ft would be fine.

I seen a few pics over the years of SA womas over 9ft, one being around 10ft, i think it's far more common to see them around the 7-8ft mark as a big speciman.
Heres a biggish one from Matt Bonnetts site. http://www.users.on.net/~jbonnett/Big-SA-woma.jpg

I've seen pictures of a road killed 11' specimen and pictures of two animals supposedly just over 10' (one captive, one live wild specimen), which looked like they probably genuinely were as large as claimed. Of the 30 or so adult captive SA Womas I've seen in the flesh, most have been about 6-7' long, only one larger than 8' and even then only by a little. I don't doubt that larger ones exist in captivity than I've seen, I just wonder how common it is. People often talk about 10+' SA Womas being common or even normal, I'm just curious about whether it's reasonably common or if it's very rare, with people talking about it a lot (as happens with a lot of species, including well known ones). I've spoken to a lot of people who have happily told me all about Womas, even though they've never actually seen one! Deathinfire seems to have some knowledge on the topic, I'd love to hear about it.

The snake was just over 11' long, measured properly (it's a lot easier with dead snakes). It was still in pretty good condition and quite strongly patterned for a large wild Woma. Most of the wild adults I've seen pictures of look very dull. The 11' road kill is the largest one I know of, I'd love to see one that big... or any wild SA Woma for that matter.

Sdaji - I believe you, it was just an attempt at a joke in very poor taste
victor - Sorry, no-one answered your other question, things have a habit of going off topic on here. So whats the weather like over your side of the world? Oh yeah, I would keep them separate until they're ready to breed.

Yeah, I knew it was a joke. The taste wasn't as poor as a lot of my humour, don't worry

Hi!
I'm pretty satisfied with all the answers, thanks guys!
An 11ft woma would be truely magestetic so see, wow.
I was going to buy the blackheads, but had some last-minute-regrets on spending 10000aus$+ on a pair of snakes
So now the choise is difficult, should i go with womas, bredlis or diamonds, hehe.
They're all very pretty snakes, and I want them all, just dont know witch to get first www.serpentum.com/diamonds/
But I think womas and bredlis mature MUCH faster than diamonds, am i right?
Rennie - we've got summer over here now =) the weather is great, about 20-25 degrees celcius. Its great
Cheers!

Womas and Black headeds mature in a reasonably similar time (both have been bred in two years, both usually take three). Bredli and Diamonds are likely to take an extra year or two.
Out of those choices, I'd say Womas are the clear winners! Lovely natured snakes, except at feeding time. Watching a NT Woma (which is the type I assume you'd be looking at over there) getting excited about food is absolutely amazing! Many will frantically wag their tails and jump up and down, huffing and puffing! I really must borrow a video camera and visit some Womas!

The one I'm holding in the picture on my website was about 8'3". I've seen a pic of a roadkill that looked huge, but was only 8'2" in reality. The biggest I've ever seen was a live animal at 8'6" and a preserved animal of a similar size. I'd love to see a 10-11 footer if they exist. Do you have access to the pic of the 11 foot animal sdaji? Do you know where it originated from?
