Well our new snake - Boof - seems to be settling in well, he is venturing out of his hide and exploring his enclosure, he seems very alert and watches us when we get close to the cage, so tomorrow I thought I would feed him for the first time. I have read lots of advice on how to handle reluctant feeders but was wondering the methods/routines that people usually use to feed their snakes. What works best for you? Feeding straight from tongs or leaving the pinkie outside the hide? Any tips for a learner would be appreciated.

I take my maccie out and put him on the table, and dangle the warm hopper in front of him, jiggle it a little - simulating a live prey item. Makes for a more interesting feed as he strikes and constricts it. I reckon this is the way to do it hahah and I'd never do any other way. I don't think he'd eat a lying still one hahaha.
When he's finished eating, I just pick him up and put him back in his enclosure and leave him for 2 days or so
(Obviously, before I get compaints, if you have numerous snakes my method probably isn't practical)

I take mine out and put it into a click clack container and it usually wanders around for a while untill it comes across the pinkie.has a smell and eats it.
