Unfortunately all couriers are like this. However we have just switched to AAE at work and out of all the couriers we use they are the best.
Please be mindful that these things happen I know it's stressful, but can you imagine if they see your name again, the service your likely to get.
The more helpful you are the more they will try to help you.

We are having to take reptiles to Lismore to fly out as apparently the 2 airlines that fly into Coffs harbour wont touch reptiles. Has been like that for quite a while now

Have never had a problem with AAE, have found that the reptiles always arrive safely, at and the correct destination so long as the parcels are labelled correctly. You also need to check ahead of time which airports AAE fly to now as it is only REX airlines in NSW that will fly reptiles.
| thats good to hear rosemary.
im leaving soon and hopefully my snake will be at melbourne airport today on time and with no hiccups..a pleasure doing business with you my friend.

They're not paid to go out of their way or be considerate...even if that would mean to just read the box. Sorry to hear about your annoying experience. What a waste of time.
Atleast you got your pet all A-O.k.

I find the best way to deal with AaE is to ring them on the day you are expecting the animals with a con note number and let them know that it is live animals you are expecting. Tell them what the box looks like and that your contact details are on the box. If you can get the time that they were dropped off at the airport, AaE can check what flight it has been booked on .....
I've had problems with animals going astray from having connecting flights, only coming up from Melbourne for some reason *scratch* go figure.
What we are relying on here most of the time is freight coming up on a passenger plane. (Unfortunately there are not enough dedicated freight planes around.) If Joe Blo is running late for his plane, the plane waits for him, the arrival time is delayed, freight misses the connecting flight because the turn over time was short to begin with. How many times have you been on a flight and had to wait for late passengers?
JMO
cheers

I reckon one in every two times I've used AAE to either send or recieve reptiles it's gone pear shaped. They killed two of my geckos by putting them in an unheated, unpressurised hold. I never go out to the airport until I've rung them and the package is there. I've had to wait up to 36 hours after the supposed arrival time.
The problem is... there is no other choice. All my reptiles that I send are packaged to the best of my ability and only sent if they are in prime condition.

I would not be sending any animals at this time of year. There are always mix ups and delays with the volume of mail at the moment.

We sent about 10 parcels (pythons) today via AAE from Lismore today and all arrived safely and on time.

Save your pennies for a holiday and pick them up while you're there. Least if you pick them up, you know where they are. I know thats not always possible, though :S

While we are on the subject of AAE, I was told by AAE staff in Perth that they are all getting rather tired of dealing with inadequately packaged reptiles. What their main concern was, that as most people who sent reptiles around the country in foam eskies or boxes they were not crush proof and were a breach of some sort of transportation code of practice or perhaps act ( I can’t remember ). Any how it is now to the point where some AAE outlets are refusing to handle them at all and this may get worse. We need to tread very carefully here and protect our selves from losing this service (I know sometimes it doesn’t deserve the word service). I now send my foam boxes wrapped in a wooden frame and AAE feed back is they are now very happy with us. I know we all sometimes experience a few stuff ups but it is better the devil we know than no devil at all. Actually that pun doesn’t really make sense.
Cheers Dave

I have dealt with them a few times and apart from one flight being a little late, they have been excellent!!
