Amethystine python...

Hey guys,
Just wondering if anyone has pics of Amethystine pythons? Seen one at the Reptile expo in Melb, does anyone keep them? are they legal to keep? Just curious on there info, hopefully some of you guys can inform me...they are quite interesting!!

Yes they are legal. There other name for them is the scrub python. If you do a search you will find pics.

They can be quite aggresive and snappy and grow in excess of 5 Metres!

Yeah going by the one at the Melb expo(17') they obviously can...What are there prices?

Upmarket pets near Vic Market have some Scrubby's for sale if your interested...juvenile to yearling sizes
Had a look in there a couple of weeks ago...some nice critters there

The scrubby's at upmarket were around the $500-$600 mark...very pretty!!

this is Pebbles thinks she's a gtp she's very easy to handle until feed day then the devil comes out in her so far so good she settles within a day it is very unusual for scrubs to be free handle a lot shhhhhh don't tell pebbles or i will be in deep trouble

I would not recomend scrubbies as captive snakes in southern states. They like space, they like humidity and they don't like hot or cold temps. They seem to be most active at this time of year, when humidity is around 95% and temps hover between 24C and 30C. Wild scrubbies almost always have a great temprament, captives are almost always nuts.

Just curious, is the scrub pythons that are in this thread the same ones that ate that little dog in QLD? and the one that ate the wallaby? They are huge!!!! But they are beautiful.

I believe the one wiht the huge lump could actually be one that got 2 chickens from someones chook pen earlier this week. Would I be right magpie
