Antaresia - Keep apart childreni and maculosa hatchlings

Hi,

I tried to find a way to keep apart A. childreni and A. maculosa hatchlings. As I watched over 200 headshots I think there´s an easy way and I hope you´ll agree. If you watch the top of the head there´s a precise difference in the scales regarding pure bred animals. You´ll find the red marked scale only with childrenis. Please post some pics if you disagree together with informations about their origin.

Thank you Carsten

OR you could separate them by colour and pattern. I find this much easier than counting scales.

Colour and pattern can be extremely variable. Until genetic information became so precise and relatively easy to obtain, scale counts were the definitive way to describe different species.

Thanks Landscaper - some of us still find that sort of information interesting!

This has been posted before by Lutzd.
If you do a search you may find the different shots of Childrens, Macs & Stimsons.
(if not it may have been in his photo gallery)
