any information please??

i have just finished making a enclousure for my first python i am looking at a stimpsons. can someone please tell me do i need to cover the light to avoid burning. also what temp should the tank get to ive wired it all up through a thermostat and directly under the light it gets to about 35 and at the far end your looking at 25ish do i need more heat?? sorry the tank is 500mm wide 1100 long and 400 high. any advice would be welcome

Thats quite large for a Stimson - 300 - 400mm square would be adequate.

IMO its fine for an adult and would be ok for a small python if properly sheltered, IMO a light cage wouldnt be needed if your not using a thermostat.
Those temps sound good just keep an eye on them as the climate/room temp changes and change the wattage of the bulb if required.

For a younger one I'd get a small plastic container for it and put that inside the one you have for the first year or so.
Also cover light and drop the temps a few degrees.

the cage is overkill for a young one but that is OK. Buy a hatchie tub and keep it inside your cage. Get a bigger tub in a year and then let him out in a couple of years time. Mind you, tubs are better on heat mats so they can get a gradient.
