After reading the post about the ANZACS I thought I would share with you the lead up and to and ANZAC day that I had here in Southern Iraq.
We have been quite busy leading up to our handover to the Americans so we can some home in June.I spent the day before ANZAC day out on patrol in out of control heat.We returned to base only to go outside the wire again last night.Due to operational security I can't tell you what we were doing as much as I would like to.
Thankfully we were pulled off task at around 3 am to come back so we could be part of the Dawn service. My mates and I which make up Combat Team Heeler all met up outside the combat team where to our relief there was some rum for our morning coffees. After catching up with blokes who some of us haven't seen ion a month or so we all made our way up to the parade ground where we conducted our Dawn service.
After which there was a breakfast of real bacon and eggs followed by some two up.The the Ashes were played where I am happy to say we gave the poms a pasting.
Whilst my callsign is on call as well as other half the Battle group were then able to have there two beers each unless you have mates that don't drink and more two up etc.
A signed Collingwood jumper was auctioned off to Legacy.Last I heard the bid was 1500 US.Also during the day numerous slouch hats etc were handed around for us to pitch in for families of the like of Trooper David Pearce.
I then caught up on some much needed sleep before jumping on here and reading the ANZAC post.I would like to thank you all for your support as sometimes you don't get much over here.
I am looking forward to having my beers toimmorrow where I will tell all my mates about the well wishes from people on this forum.
And when I can get this computer to work I will post some pics of the herps I have seen both here and In Afghanistan last year so you all can see them and help tell me what they are.
Thanyou
Adam

Just got to get the rest of them off the boys as I don't have a camera. Then got to get them to upload.
Seen snakes out in the desert here miles from anything.Don't know what they would eat or drink as it can be like sand dunes for miles. Also I think the Jackals like to eat them though I am not sure.We have Jackals all around us some nights and some snakes that have come through our position soon vanish when we go to look at them again.?
Staying safe mate though camera flashes of snakes at night isn't really a good thing when you are trying to be tactical LOL
