Are Jungles really that bitey?

Ive noticed that there are alot of people that say jungles are very bitey, yet others still say that their fine....

so..

are they really?.... because the next snake i want to get is a Jungle.... id prefer to get a placid snake, but jungles just so nice!

i want to hear from everyone that has handled a jungle.....

what was your experience with them?... all bites.. or not

Thx

buy from a breeder selecting temperament instead of colour.

Every Jungle I have handled has been bitey but there are calm ones. There's an exception to every rule
Ours are feisty

i have 6 jungles, 1 is the nicest snake i own, 2 others are ok, 2 will bite, and the last one will ripe you apart any chance he gets, but he is the best coloured one i own,

and the nicest and the worse are both bred by the same breeder, so it doesn't matter who you buy from, it's just the luck of the draw when buying hatchlings,

Luck of the draw I'm afraid I have a few my biggest is and absolute dream to handle
and has never evn looked like stricking and then I have a female that will strike at anything
that mooves. The rest are are bitey but no full Psychos.

But comparative to my other snakes (coastaland stimmie) they do seem as a species more prone to have a taste.

Anyway it doesn't hurt that much and well they look so good! A small price to pay I think.

We have 2 that were "as mad as a cut snake".. hehe, but they have now settled down to be reasonable. The female was the worst, she would bite, then twist and it would rip a nice little wound. Now they have settled down a fair bit as we handle all our snakes once a week when feeding and cage cleaning time comes around.

all my adult jungles are tame ,
because i take the time to get them that way ,
its important to me that i can inspect and handle my jungles at anytime ,
so from the time they are hatchlings the jungles i decide to keep as future breeders receive a little handling at first then more as they grow bigger ,
untill they show no fear of me , ie striking or biting ,
as these are defensive behavours ,
a feeding responce bite is another situation ,
if jungles are hungry ,
then any movement near there cage will see them launch into a full strike ,
jungle carpet temperament does vary also and some tame down easier than others ,
cheers Roger

I think it all comes down to being able to handle and treat them properly. When a mate of mine got 2 adult jungles I was the only one that could handle the female because I was confident but respectful.

Most snakes can be calmed down through patient handling

I have four jungles, a Tully, Palmeston and two Athertons and all of my snakes are very placid to the point I can pretty much do what I want with them. My Athertons are flighty as they wernt handled much by the previous owner, but certainly never given me a bite. I belive it just depends on the snake itself, and how calm it is with you. Our Palmeston was a snappy girl when we first got her but with regular handling she is just as calm as our BHP. (MY DIAMONDS ARE THE SCARY ONE'S lol).

establish a rapport, and you can make the nastiest snake a baby. my jungles are lovely, well natured, well trained, affectionate animals.

of course the purist will tell you that snakes cannot be trained, blah blah... I have noticed that their snakes DO have a tendency to be bitey.
