Hi All
Just have some questions regarding the Atherton Pythons:-
1. How are they "in general" in terms of temperament?
2. Can two be kept in the same enclosure?
3. If so, is it better that they are older rather than putting them together as "juveniles"?
Thinking of getting two, but maybe one, if they can't go in an enclosure together.
Thanks
Tracy
Also, forgot to add:
4. How big do they get?
Thanks

As with all,
They will live together, provided they are not both males, i.e. one male one female, they should be fine together.
Make sure you provide adequate amount of hides
Make sure that you feed them in separate. I always give them a little spray with water before putting them back in too, just to try and eliminate some of the smell. I have never had any problems with paired houseing
You should be fine.

and plenty of hides in case they dont feel like cuddling with each other
and make sure they are about same size

Thanks heaps for the info, I have decided that one would be better for now and l will look into getting another later.
Can anyone tell me.. How are they "in general" in terms of temperament and about how big they get. I know these questions may have been answered in others post, and I apologise if they have, I seem to have problems searching on the site and get too many of the wrong results, (think I am doing some wrong) as I am still getting use to all the areas of this site.
Thanks
Tracy

Tracy | I would also like an answer to this question.
I've done alot of searching but cant find much info on them.
I know every snake is different, but just a generalisation would be fine.
Thanks

They will get to 1.5m generally, this can depened on food as well. i.e. how much you feed them
Obviously different snakes will be different, but if you are patient, they should settle and loose that snappy tom attitude. Then again, they may be good from the start.
Just get a couple and take your time

athertons will grow to 2.5 - 3 meters, alot can be very aggressive indeed.
IMO its better to keep all snakes in a seperate enclosure if you can.

Thanks
I am getting one at this time, and from reading, getting information and my general personal feelings overall if I get another later on I am pretty sure I will house them separately.
Getting it from Ultimate Reptiles Suppliers (URS) (which have been absolutely great with their responses and my questions), just going to the the movement advice today and should have it in about a week or two.
Getting a smaller enclosure to start over the weekend with extras to put in it (pretty excited about it all). (My birthday pressie).
This will be snake three and I am sure not the last :-)
Cheers

Yes 2.5 metres plus is not unusual, this one was almost that long, in fact it was massive. Also agree temperament wise they are very agreesive an unpredictable.
