It's up to you as to whether you prefer to buy locally, or are willing to purchase interstate and have your snake freighted to you. Either way, make sure you do your research first and buy from someone reputable

Of course breeders are better, cheaper and have awesome advice (most of the time) What sort of snake are you looking for first? Then people can point you in a better direction

They have specialised staff advising on the reptiles (they own reptiles themselves). The prices are the catch sometimes when it comes to petshops. It's all a personal choice isn't it?

Not to mention a lot of them give out incorrect info, and try to con newbies into purchasing all manner of fancy items that are probably totally unneccessary.
There are a few pet stores in the Brisbane area that sell reptiles, however, I would personally prefer to purchase from a reputable breeder. There may be some good pet stores that really look after their reptiles and give out great info ... but ... how is a new keeper supposed to differentiate between a good pet store and a bad pet store?
