Best suited elapid

What does everyone think is the best suited elapid to get first. i Have handled alot, including 5 1/2ft collet red belly's, tigers and even an angry easter brown. Your opinions would be greatly apreciated.

Death Adders are a good choice as they are smaller and easier to handle.
A Red Belly Black would also be a good first elapid.

i was thinking collet or a blue belly, but if i came across a rbb or a copperhead for sale at a fair price i would jump at it.

I dont understand. You have a death adder but you want to get your first elapid.
How does the death adder not fit in this scenario?
Peter

i went halves with a mate in a big pair of olives that we have now sold but to sweeten the deal the guy gave us the death adder as well, but it had mites and was a troubled feeder and as i was not experienced with elapids at that stage my mate tyook it to his house. he feeds it and has finally gotten rid of the mites and now that i want elapids i could keep it hear but would rather a red belly or something else first just to get a bit more experience up with them, as the death adder is also a psycho. get what i ment?

oh, I understand now duh!.
In NSW death adders are class 2 cat 2 so youd have to keep something like red bellys for a year on cat 1 first.

oh ok, down here we have 2 licenses a basic one which has all pythons except gtp and woma's no elapids then on the advanced we have all elapids gtp's and woma's. in nsw are you allowed to keep wombats and stuff like that?

Only native mammals that you can keep here are Plains rat and spinfex hopping mice but a mate is allowed to kill 12 womabats a year on his property near Bundanoon.
There are exceptions made and you can also get special permits for breeding programmes

No crocs.
cant type any more because Im crying.
Can keep file snakes though, happy again.
Story goes that when they introduced licensing the minister got scared and thought the public would go nuts if we were allowed to keep crocs so got it taken off the list.
Some of the older guys I know used to have them.

on the elapids. I have had this big brown snake for a little while now and am to release it very shortly.
Ive become quite attached to it though.
I used to hide whenever I went near it but yeaterday I was sorting out the mice aqnd lokked over and it was looking at me. Probably hoping for a snack. Im thinking about mulgas at the moment.
