My Bredli has done that a few times. Running her head under cold water usually does the trick.

My little BHP used to the same. He would hold on for a few minutes and just when you think he is about to let go, he bites down harder

no thanks, ill pass on both! I had a thread a few days ago on the attitude of my bhp, launching herself at me during feeding time, and hissing 24/7. Shes 18mths and 4ft she'd pack quite a punch if she got me! Nice photo lol

is that normal for BHP? Are woma's more docile? Or is it all in the way you handle and work with them, the same w/ any snake

Haha, oops.
That looks sore, I can't help but think 'So many teeth..." Was he not far from shedding? Maybe it's the flash but the eye scale looks a little cloudy. Could explain a bad mood,

Bluey bites: are they really as bad as having a brick slammed on your finger? I've heard bad things about them but I've never been bitten so I wouldn't know.

bluey bites are very painfull, i was about 12-13 and my bro had caught a bluey, i was trying to feed it, cant remember what but silly me wanted 2 poke the food into its mouth chomp, my 1st reaction was 2 pull away, bluey hit a torch and let go, he was fine, kept him for about 2 years before letting him go, after a few weeks he calmed down alot but you still wouldnt wanna stick your finger in his mouth

ouch!!!!!

firefly,
i've never been bitten by my bhp's but i can tell you it bleeds like all hell when my woma gets hold of you, and then you have the fun job of removing all the teeth that are left in your fingers,
i think my woma went through his troubled teen years and decided that i and any one else handling him were fair game, now hes back to his kitten like self again and we are having no problems, considering what i've seen my big bhp male do a rat i hate to imagen what he would do to me if he got hold of me,

HAHA, why do I get the impression we'll see that photo again when someone makes a statement like "BHPs don't bite, they're all bluff and bluster"

I agree with moonfox, the eyes to look cloudedy, it might have been a little nervous.

BHP's have very strong jaws.

yes, and i was one of those people, lol
He had a shed about two weeks ago, and I have been sort of slowing down the food a little because they are growing at a fairly rapid rate and after reading the thread last week about the Bredli i was wondering if I had been feeding them too much. Anyway he's just hungry and i thought his heat mat had gone on the blink so i put my hand in to feel what the heat was like, i move it abit this way and that and WHACK he comes charging out from under the newspaper. A most successful ambush!! I had to submerge him to get him to let go in the end.
But i am glad he is lively, fit and healthy. And has a grip like a little vice.
