BHP Question

Hi All,
My BHP for the last couple of weeks has been stretching him self out and raising his head and staying in that position for about an hour. He does it about 3 times a day, i took him out and he seems fine he is still eating. Any ideas what he is doing and is this common for BHP?
Thanks to all who will take the time to help me with this.
Nat

Mine do that, maybe not for an hour though. If you tap on the glass or open the enclosure door they go and do something else.

Mine does it too. He is sussing out the roof of the enclosure for escapee holes Haha. Mine climbes up his stick whenever no-ones looking and fully investigates. And who says BHPs dont climb. Although as soon as i enter the room he gets down and goes back into his hidey hole....

Mine don't do that but they tend to just sit there looking blankly into space. It's hard to tell whether they're sleeping, watching you or whatever because of their black eyes against their black heads. I find a good way to see if they're paying attention is to rub my hand with a rat and put my hand into the cage . Seriously, they really perk up as soon as they realise it's feeding time. I've had mine launch themselves out of the cage before

You've got to love BHPs.

While his head is raised does the breathing sound conjested? If so he may have a RI as they will do this to clear the airway. If the breathing is fine it's probably just a quirk of his.
