I have one that is an angel and the other has way to much attitude. Over all a damn nice python. Around the 8-9ft mark

They can get quite big and do grow relatively fast. I have one quiet one and one fiesty one , but he hasn't bitten yet, just bobs his head, hisses at me and lunges out every now and then, but that doesn't stop me giving him a cuddle, he's fine once you pick him up. They have smaller clutch sizes than say a carpet and I have heard hatchies can be difficult to feed. In the wild their main diet is reptiles including vens ! And you shouldn't house them together cause they could eat each other, did I mention how damn cute the are!!

If you get WA BHP's then I think you will find that they are a bit smaller. I ahve a couple that are only 5-6 feet long but maybe thaey are smaller because they are wild caught or something like that. But they are nowhere near as big as the Qld ones I have seen.

im in vic, not sure what type of BHPs i would be getting, i saw them at upmarket pets in the city, i think they were around the $800-$1200 mark... a lot of $$$ i wonder if i should be looking for alternative sources.

Breeders usually have better prices and better stock than pet stores

They dont differentiate. So yes, you could have WA's. But I would very much doubt that they would be in pet shops. You may need to PM TrueBlue of you want WA's without a $200 export fee. plus they are black & white as opposed to orange and white

You'll find WA BHP's to be the smallest growing of all localities, due to the harshness of the living conditions there. The normally large snakes in eastern states generally do not grow as big in the Pilbara IMHO. Have a look at True Blue's Boodarie Woma's, they only grow to about 5 feet.

Could BHP's be considered a good beginners snake??? regardless of their cost..

They seem rather placid/docile, although I suppose there are always exceptions!!

just wondering, cheers
