heyy everyone,
As some of you may know, some time soon i will be getting my first snake. Now i know how big BHP's get(around 3m i pressume) but are they OK for a first snake, disregarding the prices?. My mum wants 1 becuase of their head shape and she thinks they look cool so i have some things i need to ask:
Enclosure size for an adult?
Can you use a click clack for a hatchy/juvy?
What and how often do you feed juvy's/fully grown adults?
Do they need UV?
Is there any breeders in VIC?
What price would you be looking at for a hatchy in VIC?
Cheers and thanks in advance
(sorry for the long post )

Enclosure size for an adult? around the 4-6 foot.
Can you use a click clack for a hatchy/juvy? yes until they outgrow it.
What and how often do you feed juvy's/fully grown adults? around once a week for juvies and once every 10 days for adults.
Do they need UV? no
Is there any breeders in VIC? Melissa Shine (Simple on APS)
What price would you be looking at for a hatchy in VIC? I think around 1000
Cheers and thanks in advance No worries
(sorry for the long post ) | well mine is really easy to care for and has never bitten or been aggressive (other than feeding time) so i wouldnt say that they are bad first pets.. but they are very different to all other aussie snakes (other than the woma i presume) so make sure you know pretty much everything about them.
send me a pm if you need anymore help :-)

I keep mine in six foot enclosure's with a half wall in the middle to give a better temp gradient, yeah a click is good for a hatchie but they grow fast

2.5 years is a good time mate.. heaps of time to get the best stuff and get the best of snakes.. i recogmend getting a juvie around the age of 6 months so they arn't snappy and then get them growing and it will turn out perfect.. all i can say is take your time and dont rush it.. and save up (and if you work then ask your boss if you can work overtime, i asked him and i got double the amount of money a week)..

as a first snake you cant go past a stimmi, they are in general
good handlers and after you have had one for a while and got used to handling
it then go for a jungle or black head, but be aware that jungles can be a bit snappy at times
and black heads are absolute darlings as long as there is no food about
