There's the hypermelanistic Darwin Carpet bredli84 mentioned. We don't yet have a true melanistic python in Australia, but we likely won't have to wait for too many years before one pops up. Some of the darkest Diamond Carpets get fairly close, but not close enough to look all that wonderful (okay, to all those I've offended, yes, beauty is in the eye of the beholder and if you're weird enough to behold it, good for you!  ). I'd trade both my arms for a melanistic Water Python! Even a hypermelanistic one would be awesome, with a glossy black body and bright yellow belly...

Leiopython was dismmised from being in Australia in early 2000.....the old dubious record of the Southern Highland Form of D'Albert's was put down as an incorrect locality.
