Black boy for sure!!! I grew up calling them that and then they decided to change it... But I figure they can change all the names they like to be politically correct, but I'm still going to call it what it's always been to me, regardless of what it is! I'm not going to change what I call it because someone said so!...

Also I agree with RBB, golliwogs NOT scalliwags!
'Fairy' penguin, NOT little penguin.
And you know the actual dolls called golliwogs, I noticed they are now just called 'gollys'. Thats worse! Makes me think of snot!

[Deleted] Totally agree there!!! Like are they going to change the name of Coon cheese or Coonabarraban (or however you spell it) also??? Its totally out of control! Sorry if I offended anyone...

im told all the time that i spoil jokes with technicalities...but its a habbit i cant break
the botanical name is xanthorrea australis
common name is just that....what it is commonly called. and for the same plant that can be different within states/areas
blackboy and grass tree are both common names, however Political and horticultural correctness deem them both wrong
xanthorrea's are not trees to be called grass trees...the are arboresent monocots....tall grasses, just like palms are not trees

Sorry Andy, I call them Yukka! They grow wild near here & I totally agree there is too much PC BS! Too many people have too little to do and there are far too many extremists IMO!

They were known as black boys when I was growing up, but in my circle of friends they seem to be discussed quite a bit and referred to as grass trees, so i guess i call them either depends which word rolls off my tonuge first

My mother in law still refers to a specific colour as "nigger brown" - apparently it was a really common name years ago - but I still catch my breath when I hear her using it!
