I have read everywhere between 2 and 4 years and 6ft to 7ft (female) or just with a girth big enough to carry eggs. They are 2 years old now and 4 and-a-bit to 5 ft in length. Both are currently in a growth spurt (look bigger every day!) think it must be the heat/humidity at the moment. Feeding 2 large weaners a week at the moment but have substituted with a adult rat from time to time depending on availability of food.
Any advice welcomed.........

Unfortunately, this is a species of python, like the Olives' that takes a little longer to mature then most species. I find that most do not breed till they are at least 4 years old(even the males) and that they have obtained a large size. Females normally over 6.5 ft and solid, with males needing to be at least 6ft and solid . I would say you still have another 2 years to go. Keep the food up to them as much as possible to get them as big as you can by 4 years old. Best of luck. |

The way they seem to be growing at the moment I think they will be 6ft easy by the time it gets to cooing season. The male is a bit bigger than the female and has a good bit of girth to him probably around the 4cm diameter at his thickest.
Is there anything special you need to do when introducing them? Or is it just a matter of putting the male in with the female and hoping they don't have a tiff.... Haven't introduced them yet, scared of a $300 to $500 accident!! | | |
