Breeding Issues

I was wondering if anyone has ever had issues with introducing the male into the females enclosure? I've never had problems with multiple snakes except during feeding or with multiple males, but was wondering if it was something to be aware of...

Hi Sam,
It is someting you need to consider when introducing the male to the female, I have had it that a female has seen the male and waited until he got close enough and attacked him, biting his head.
Because I always watch carefully after introducing I avoided what could have been a mess! No harm done, although the male was a bit miffed! LOL!
Mind you my missus bites my head right off sometimes! LOL!
Sometimes snakes that are reflex feeders might also need to be watched a little more closely on first entry into the viv.

In 99% of times you will be absolutely fine, but be aware that something could happen, if it does it will usually happen within the first 1 hr of introduction.

Neil

In some species fight can start. best is to watch for first half hour and if they do not react badly in first minutes, all should be ok.

A question in relation to this..

How long is a pair typically left together? (generally speaking). Until copulation is observed? or for a set period of time? Is there a specific regime that is followed for successful breeding?
