Breeding question

I'm intending to breed my male bredli in the future, at present he is 7 months old.

However, i'm going to start shopping now for a lady-friend for him. What age should I aim to buy his lady-friend at? Should she be 6 months older? 6 months younger? Same age?

I'm just wondering about the idea age difference of a good breeding pair..

Thanx
Josh

RE: Breeding question

It's a bit hard to get snakes that are 6 months older than another (though not impossible) as they are generally all born at the same time each year. If i were you i would buy a female that is one year older than your male. I would attempt to breed her at 3 or 4 years of age.

Edit: Forgot to mention that the reason for buying an older female is because females generally take a little longer to mature than males do.

RE: Breeding question

No discrimination with reptiles mate, they just have to be old enough.

RE: Breeding question

I don't think it matters as long as they're both sexually mature when the time comes so just get another hatchling.

RE: Breeding question

it all depends on how long you want to wait, if your willing to wait another 3 years buy a female this season, if not, try buying an older female, maybe a yearling or 2 year old female? but in the end as long as they are both large enough and at least 2 1/2 years old they should breed,

RE: Breeding question

Oh, I don't mind waiting. So I'll just look for a yearling, or a bit older.

Thanks guys.
