Breeding Records of BHP's

I am chasing any information off people about the length and weight of a BHP when it is considered to be mature and able to breed.

The main attributres i am after is to find out what the smallest breeding lenght, weight and age would be?

Also if any one has any data on an average size for a hatchling that would be appreciated.

Dave

Have you bred them around the 1200mm mark? If so, how many eggs? What age were these animals?

With the 1200mm minimum. is this from a locality that is smaller than the usual growth sizes? But if so Woohoo as mine are past the 5ft mark and I was debating wether to try and breed or not.

If only the math were so simple.
Bhps will reach 1200mm in 6 months or less - must be able to breed them then?
People tout 18months as a breeding age - Can anyone verify this first hand?
Hands up those that have failed to breed them at 18mths.

30 months old and five and half foot sounds a reasonable size to try though.

Though I did fail at breeding a 18month old spotted male with a 30 month old spotted male. No luck there

geeze, cheezy subject. i don't personally keep BHP's but i have mates that do, and i have heard mixed results, i know a fellow that bred a male at 18 months, around 1400m, but he had been powerfeeding it rabbits, and it was a very girthy python for 1400mm. don't know about females though. i know that in antaresia, if you breed them young, you'll often reduce there egg count for life, eg- childreni bred @ 18 months may only have 8 eggs, and this reduced count will continue for life.

i have also heard of people not being able to breed BHPs till they are 4-5yrs. so the precedent is all over the shop.

An ongoing work in progress with regards to the spotteds. After that try last year I am experimenting by using the younger male (will be 30months) with a female. The trial is quite groundbreaking I know but I will see if it bears results.

an old thread revived. I saw the BHPs mating in the season just gone but doesn't look like eggs coming, the females were just a bit shy of 3kg in weight. My female spotted is looking to pop any day now......

TB how big was the female that had clutch 1?
