Brown Tree Snake.

Just looking into the possibility of getting a BTS. Just wanting to know about the basics for them, like feeding and avaliablilty, cost.
Also, wat effects after a bite have people expierenced, as i know this is going to be my mum's first question.

thanks,
scott

I got 54.10 as my UAI. I once cared about getting 99% and becoming a pilot or doctor but soon realised it ain't that important. I have a job I love and earn excellent money from it. Hope you go well and follow your passion but don't over-stress yourself and think that it's the be all and end all. I'm sure many people will attest to this.

G'day Saikrett, I've got 1.1 Bts of the northern banded type. I find them to be reasonably easy to care for, though sometimes a little fussy towards feeding. I recommend a large enclosure for them as they are very active, as tall as possible so they can climb. Also they seem to like a fairly humid environment, put a bowl of water under the heater and also at the cool end. They enjoy soaking occasionally.
I dont think their bite would be anything too painful but can't say from experience as I've not been bitten, yet. I rarely handle mine as they can get a bit flighty.
Overall they are great snakes to keep and look really striking. Far more active than pythons and quick moving.
Hope this helps a little.

They like to hide, they like to be warm, they like to climb, and they like it humid. Get that set, and they will be easy.

Fussy feeders most of the time, my male refuses as much as he takes...and once they have grabbed it, don't dare move, because they spook easy.

I will be asking 100 each....

Also, I found a bite BLOODY PAINFUL. I used to not care about getting bitten by them, used to handle them like a python, well now its hooks only!

Hurts that much eh Baritji? Was it a large specimen that got you? I've heard they tend to chew on you once they get hold. Maybe I have been underestimating them.

I've been bitten by both of mine...6 foot female, 4.5 foot male. The girl just snapped and let go, the male had a good chew. Hurts as much as a bite from an adult carpet I guess...

hey dude. i hav an adult male bts about 1.4m. His tank is verticale being about 1m high x 55cm wide x 55cm deep. Branches should be both vertical and horizontal (it looks awesome wen they ambush while hanging). i bought mine about 2 years ago and the guy was cool enough to give it to me for $250. my bts was always a good handler until about a month ago wen he grabbed my hand, since then i hav no hope...basically, he hates me now and i dont know y the bite hurt more after a few minutes, accompanied by redness, itchiness and my hand was shivering. Nuthn serious tho. U should get a couple man, they are the coolest looking snakes out.
